Rich Klimowicz Bio Page Pic

Currently, Rich provides private instruction to a growing studio of students from Tone Tailors in Lititz, PA, located on the unique Rock Lititz campus, which plays host to some of the music industry’s biggest superstars throughout the year.

 

In addition to his studio, Rich also offers lessons through Skype, vastly increasing his ability to stay connected with students across the country. Beyond his private students, he continues to serve as the Percussion Coordinator/Arranger for the Millersville University Marching Band, where he has been engaged since 2009. Throughout the year he also helps to design, arrange, coordinate and instruct numerous local marching band programs in the Lancaster County area.

       

An active performer in addition to a highly engaged educator, Rich maintains a regular performance schedule which includes wedding string quartets, musical pit orchestras, local community orchestras. He also offers his professional services as a custom arranger for various percussion ensembles.  

Rich is a Vic Firth Artist and has proudly served as a member of the Vic Firth Education Team since 2012 

Rich graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Millersville University in 2013 with a concentration in Percussion Performance. He currently resides in Lancaster, PA.  

 

Rich has grown a reputation as an outstanding educator in national competitive marching arts at the highest levels, instructing World Class ensembles participating in the Drum Corps International tour as well as the WGI-Sport of the Arts competitive percussion circuit. His DCI and WGI teaching experience has resulted in his participation in several national tours spanning the past decade, working with students of all ages and levels of experience.

 

Currently, Rich is entering his ninth consecutive season in Drum Corps International with the southern New Jersey-based Jersey Surf World Class Drum Corps. In August of 2019 he was announced Director of United Percussion 2 for the coming 2020 WGI season with United Percussion and Arts INC.  

 

Rich was a founding member and ensemble director of the Lancaster, PA-based percussion trio, “Portal Percussion.” The group was established in 2011 and performed regularly throughout the country for more than five years. Highlights included achievement of a Silver Medal with the Princeton British Brass, commissioned works by Colleen B. Clarke and sharing the stage with world renowned percussionist, composer and educator Arthur Lipner.
